Camilla had her third child in mid-December. Little Boet is the perfect little brother for his big sister Asta (7 years old) and big brother Mauck (5 years old). He’s a brother so of course he’ll go on the road with them as the newest family member. Camilla doesn’t have a driving license, so she uses the bike a lot. For her, a cargo bike – the Babboe Curve Mountain in this case – is the perfect solution. Read about her first experiences with the cargo bike.
Do you know that feeling? That tingling you had in your stomach the night before your sixth birthday? Will you really get that pink bike this year? That’s exactly the feeling I had when the Babboe Curve Mountain was delivered. And to think that I had been so happy when our old cargo bike was thrown out – so to say – because well, we didn’t really need it anymore with two children that can ride bikes on their own… But now, with our new little guy, I have solemnly decided to give the idea of a cargo bike a second chance.
That tingling seems to have been a good indicator because I’ve already pedalled my way through quite a few kilometres on my cargo bike. To school, the day care, the swimming pool, getting the groceries, to the gym, getting ice cream, testing how fast it can really go; nothing is a problem for me anymore (64 km in one week!). Now that we’ve gotten to know our ‘new friend’ better, it was time for its first big test; a ride to the beach. Through the dunes. In a cargo bike. A full cargo bike. Right… And wow, how well it passed its initiation! With Boet and his big brother in the cargo bike, including the baby tent (like you every use those…), beach toys, towels, scoops, buckets, a rugby ball, containers with cucumbers and apples, beverages and bottles of sun cream, it was really no big deal at all. And, after an afternoon of playing, relaxing, swimming (cold!), trampoline jumping and eating fried snacks, Boet fell soundly asleep in his Maxi-Cosi on the way home. What a lovely day…
Just one thing: from now on, I’ll be riding the cargo bike instead of my husband because being passed at full speed by your own husband on the cargo bike with your daughter in the front – singing loudly, I must admit – is something I am not doing again. 😉
