James Middleton & Babboe get wheels in motion at Battersea Dogs Home

Monday 19th August 2019 - In partnership with James Middleton, entrepreneur and mental health campaigner, Netherlands-based cargo bike manufacturer Babboe (www.babboe.co.uk) yesterday donated a Babboe Dog-e bike – a cargo bike specially designed to transport dogs – to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

A long-time fan of the cargo bikes which have recently soared in popularity in the UK, Middleton is often spotted with his four-legged friends cycling the streets of London on the Dog-e model of the state-of-the-art bike. After the theft and recovery of the bike last month, Babboe along with London Green Cycles restored the recovered bike ahead of the donation to the animal shelter.

The bikes are designed as the ideal solution for dog lovers, allowing riders to transport their pets with ease especially if they are older or less able. Ali Taylor, Head of Canine Behaviour at Battersea, joined Squirt the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Olive the Bichon-cross, and Jax, an 11-week-old Bichon Frise puppy on the bike. Ali said: “This bike will make moving around site much easier for some of our less mobile dogs, or dogs recovering from surgery. Getting animals outside in the fresh air is vital for their overall well-being, even those who may struggle to walk, and the cargo bike will allow us to do this. It’s a lovely donation for our dogs to receive from James and Babboe.”

Speaking about his donation, Middleton added: “I have experienced first-hand how enjoyable the Babboe cargo bike can be, and the dogs love it too, so I was devastated when I discovered that my model was stolen. Thankfully it was recovered and now Babboe and myself can give the dogs at Battersea the opportunity to enjoy it too.”
