Taking your dog out on the bike, why not?

You've probably seen those bicycles about: Babboe's cargo bikes. All those children in the box, singing; all very cute of course, but did you know there are also special cargo bikes for dogs? Because dogs also enjoy being carried around in (cargo) bikes. Ears flapping, tail wagging and tongue panting. Can you picture it in fact?

Looking for a cargo bike? Choose the best Dutch cargo bike brand!

Cargo bikes are becoming increasingly popular in both the big cities and the countryside. They are an urban status symbol for environmentally aware parents. If you want to buy a cargo bike, there are a few things to consider.

Bicycle or tricycle?

Which cargo bike best suits you and your family? Some parents are adamant and know right away that it has to be a tricycle, but other parents are really keen on having a bicycle. There are also many parents who are not so certain, which makes sense. That’s exactly what our testing days are for. When you buy a cargo bike, we think it’s a must that you first come and take a test ride because it really works differently from riding an ordinary bike. Some people step onto a Babboe Curve or Big and take off right away, but others will need some time to practice. And, while some parents enjoy the speed of a Babboe City or Mini, others prefer the stability of three wheels.

What can your cargo bike do?

Do you know those parents who intentionally or unintentionally compare their child to your little one? With subtle questions about ‘whether he still has trouble sleeping through the night?’ (the bags under my eyes are apparently a giveaway…) or casually saying ‘oh, but Max was already completely potty trained when he was two!’ I have to make a confession. I’m one of those mothers. But, about my cargo bike rather than my kids…

Babboe Big vs Max-E

Anita compares the Babboe Big and the Babboe Max-E. What are the pros and cons?

Before I received the Babboe Max-E, I was using the Babboe Big. I thought it would be fun to look at the differences. Obviously, there is one big difference that is particularly important to childminders and large families. The Babboe Max-E has room for two extra kids. Childminder can mind up to 6 children, and it’s very nice if all those children can fit in the cargo bike. I would often have children ride their own bike while I rode the Babboe Big, but it made me a bit nervous. Now they all sit in the cargo bike and it’s a cosy and relaxed atmosphere, guaranteed!

Hurray for pedal assistance

Camilla had her third child in mid-December. Little Boet is the perfect little brother for his big sister Asta (7 years old) and big brother Mauck (5 years old). He’s a brother so of course he’ll go on the road with them as the newest family member. Camilla doesn’t have a driving license, so she uses the bike a lot. For her, a cargo bike – the Babboe Curve Mountain in this case – is the perfect solution. Read about her first experiences with the cargo bike.

Onto the paths, into the streets

Electric cargo bike or not?

All Babboe cargo bikes are also available in electric versions, and we’ve noticed, during testing days for example, that an increasing number of people are considering both the electric and the non-electric models when buying a cargo bike. However, at the same time, we hear from a lot of parents who bought a non-electric model that they regret their choice.
