How can we help you?
On 5 August 2026, the Dutch Accell entities (Accell NL), which include the Babboe activities, applied for (provisional) suspension of payments. The suspension of payments was granted on the same day. On 11 August 2026, the suspension of payments was converted into a bankruptcy.
The administrators in Accell NL’s (provisional) suspension of payments proceedings, Mr E.J. Schuurs (Jones Day) and Mr T. Hekman (AKD), were appointed by the court as trustees in Accell NL’s bankruptcy.
The trustees appreciate that this is an unpleasant and uncertain situation for you. Below, the trustees seek to answer the frequently asked questions.
Because Accell NL no longer had any prospect of being able to pay its debts, the court declared Accell NL bankrupt and appointed trustees.
The trustees’ task is to administer and liquidate Accell NL’s assets, with the aim of realizing the highest possible proceeds for the creditors as a whole. In doing so, the trustees are examining, among other things, which assets can be sold and how the value of the business can be preserved to the greatest extent possible.
In carrying out their duties, the trustees act in the interests of the creditors as a whole and, to the extent possible, take into account the interests of other affected parties, such as employees, customers and suppliers.
The management states that Accell NL went bankrupt because it had incurred losses over an extended period and it proved impossible to sell (parts of) Accell NL. In addition, according to management, it was not possible to reach an agreement with Accell NL’s principal financiers. As a result, it was no longer possible to continue the business.
The bankruptcy does not change the NVWA’s earlier advice regarding the use of your cargo bike. If the NVWA has designated your cargo bike as unsafe and it has not yet been inspected or repaired, we advise you to continue following the NVWA’s earlier advice. The trustees are not in a position to make statements about the safety of individual cargo bikes.
